The Saad Abad project is a story of transformation—an architectural and interior design journey where a spatial challenge became the seed for creativity, and where a simple corner kitchen evolved into a sculptural centerpiece. Conceived by Arash Aliabadi of Daaz Studio, and realized in close collaboration with the execution team, the project is situated in the Saad Abad district, a location known for its natural beauty and refined atmosphere. From the outset, the ambition was to create not just a residence but an environment where architecture becomes an expression of identity, innovation, and elegance.

At the heart of the project lay a fundamental challenge: the kitchen, an essential element of modern living, had been confined to a corner. This positioning not only restricted its functionality but also diminished its role as a social and aesthetic anchor. In contemporary design, the kitchen is no longer a hidden utility but the core of interaction and experience, the place where daily routines meet communal life. To overcome this limitation, Aliabadi introduced a bold and unconventional solution: a kitchen designed in a boomerang-shaped configuration, which extended the space outward, drawing it into dialogue with the living and reception area.

Design Story

This gesture was not simply spatial but conceptual. By reimagining the geometry of the kitchen, the design liberated it from marginality and gave it centrality. The boomerang shape acts as both bridge and sculpture, curving gently to embrace the flow of the reception area while maintaining its own integrity as a functional space. It is simultaneously architectural and artistic, practical and symbolic. What had once been a corner constraint was transformed into the project’s defining feature.

Architecture Characteristics

The design of the Saad Abad project embodies Daaz Studio’s philosophy: that every limitation contains the possibility of innovation, and that true architecture emerges not from abundance but from intelligence. The kitchen is a prime example of this philosophy in action. Rather than fighting against the space, the design team leaned into its constraints, shaping them into opportunities. The resulting boomerang form creates a sense of motion and fluidity, guiding circulation naturally and establishing a visual anchor that unifies the reception area with the service core of the home.

Material selection was critical to reinforcing this transformation. The boomerang kitchen was crafted with a palette that emphasized both elegance and durability. Refined wooden finishes, combined with high-performance surfaces, provided warmth while ensuring resilience in daily use. Contrasting tones highlighted the curvature, accentuating the sculptural quality of the design. Lighting was carefully integrated into the form, allowing the surfaces to glow softly and emphasizing the sense of fluid continuity. Together, these elements elevated the kitchen beyond mere functionality, turning it into a work of inhabitable art.
