ANDO
The story of the Ando project begins with a bold ambition: to reimagine contemporary living within the fabric of Tehran while preserving a sense of intimacy, identity, and balance. Conceived by architect Alireza Taghaboni and realized through the innovative work of Next Office, Ando is situated in the residential district of Shahrak-e Gharb, one of the city’s most dynamic and evolving neighborhoods. The project is the outcome of a dialogue between visionary design and precise execution, shaped by a commitment to excellence at every stage.
From the earliest stages, the concept was driven by the desire to establish an architectural identity that could resonate with its urban surroundings while offering a refined and personal experience to its inhabitants. The design does not seek spectacle for its own sake; instead, it creates a sense of calm authority, demonstrating how contemporary architecture can be rooted in local context while engaging with global standards of sophistication. The building is at once bold and understated, a reflection of both its cultural setting and its ambition to transcend it.
Design Story
The architectural language of Ando is characterized by clarity of form, balance of proportion, and an intentional dialogue between solid and void. This dialogue was carefully orchestrated by Next Office under the leadership of Alireza Taghaboni. Rather than a façade designed for superficial impact, the building’s exterior serves as a structural and aesthetic extension of its interior life. Windows are calibrated not only to admit light but to frame views, to shape the rhythm of the façade, and to mediate between public exposure and private retreat. Every opening, every volume, and every transition was guided by a sense of measured precision.
Architecture Characteristics
Inside, the spatial composition embodies the same values of balance and refinement. Circulation flows naturally, guiding residents and guests through a sequence of spaces that are both functional and expressive. Each area—whether a private apartment, a communal zone, or a transitional corridor—was designed to contribute to the project’s overall identity. There is no sense of hierarchy that elevates one space at the expense of another; instead, the project embodies an egalitarian elegance, where every detail matters equally
The material palette plays a crucial role in achieving this sense of cohesion. The design team embraced a restrained yet rich selection of finishes, ensuring continuity without monotony. Natural textures coexist with refined surfaces, offering both visual depth and tactile resonance. The emphasis is not on decoration but on authenticity—materials are presented in ways that highlight their inherent qualities. Stone, wood, and metal are combined not to compete but to complement one another, producing a layered richness that is as durable as it is elegant.
